It is important to understand the terms being used. Sometimes this is as easy as looking them up. For example, a search for the terms 4G LTE-U (found on this page: http://ubuntumobile.org/stay-c…), reveals that:

"LTE in unlicensed spectrum (LTE-U) is a proposal ... for the use of the 4G LTE radio communications technology in unlicensed spectrum, such as the 5 GHz band used by dual-band Wi-Fi equipment. It would serve as an alternative to carrier-owned Wi-Fi hotspots." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…)

is all written in the future tense, whereas the link where the term comes from seems to imply it is in the present. The same goes for 5G (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…), which again, is proposed, future tense. In addition, 5G is not the same as 5GHz. The "G" in 5G, refers to "generation", wheras the "G" in "GHz" refers to "giga". Also, the capitalization used in wikipedia capitalizes the "H", whereas in the quote here,

"Use your SpacePhone to connect to the 5 Ghz MCell signal or WiFi hotspot, via the Space Station 32X (needs ADSL), to have unlimited calls and data anywhere in the world to any number. The Space Station 32 X can handle 32 simultaneous connections."

the "h" is lowercase. The emphasis seems to have been to make the user think of 5G (which is not here yet) instead of 5GHz, which is. On this page (http://ubuntumobile.org/space-…) the 5GHz is more prominent in the text, but not on the equipment. There it is difficult to make out the "Hz". This is an important distinction as the two are not talking about the same thing.

In addition, on the space phone page, the term 4G LTE-U is used and on the space station page, the term 4G LTE is used, without the "U". These are not the same, so the user should be wary of exactly what it is they are getting (the "U" refers to "unlicensed", see quote and link above).

In summary, it is important for a potential buyer to understand exactly what it is they are getting and to ask for clarification if they are not sure. If the same technology can be found elsewhere in a slightly different format, the advantage of a pre-packaged solution needs to be understood before a commitment is made.

With any package requiring a monthly commitment, the potential user needs to look at the terms. These would include length of contract, cancellation penalties, refunds and methods of payment. Before submitting any sensitive personal or financial information over the internet, the user should always check to make sure that the page is secured.

This can be determined by looking for the green "https" in the browser's address bar. You can always click on that to inspect the credentials in detail. If it is not present, it is not recommended to submit financial or sensitive personal information via that page, over the internet.

Thanks so much cbos! I was going to start looking for someone to tell me the difference between 5G & 5GHz and you beat me to it! I still wold like to know what is being referred to when we are told that Ubuntu Mobile has "less radiation". Is it just less or a different variety of radiation?

I think we need a few more "techies" on this site! I don't know. You would have to look up the values. Actually, you can. It may be available on your smartphone or tablet or you can look for an app that does that. It should be in "db", same as for sound, I am sure. The more dbs, the stronger the signal.

For 100 to 6,000 MHz or 0.1 to 6 GHZ (which would include the common 5 GHz frequency), the Electric Field Strength; RMS (V/m) is 3.142 or the power density is 0.02619 W/m2 for an averaging time of six minutes. These are recommended limits. As they are time based, turning off devices that emit unwanted frequencies when they are not needed (such as during the nighttime when everyone is asleep) would make sense. As a downloadable app for a smartphone or tablet can measure in W/m2, it would then be quite easy for the homeowner or average user to check their existing system and then compare it against the more powerful "Space Station" wireless router for some objective numbers.
